Is It in You? ⚡

Maybe I’ll grab a blue Gatorade for nostalgia…

If you are watching the NBA playoffs, chances are you’ll see the new Gatorade commercial with a throwback appearance from Michael Jordan. Gatorade is bringing back the “Is It in You?” ad campaign back with Caitlin Clark leading the way in the new feature.

In the interest of full transparency, I didn’t know it ever left, but apparently, Gatorade left their signature line behind for a good while. This makes sense as most of the previous Gatorade ads seem to feature people running around in a city only to grab the drink at the end.

It’s probably been about a decade since I’ve had one of the Gatorade flavors, but it is still a cool commercial. Maybe I’ll grab a blue Gatorade for nostalgia, but I’m more of a XXX Vitamin Water guy.

Let’s explore the details of the commercial and whether it will make you buy the sports drink.

Caitlin Clark Gets the MJ Treatment

CC and MJ are not the only stars featured in the new Gatorade commercial that dropped. We also get cameos from Josh Allen, Jayson Tatum, A’Ja Wilson, and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone.

So, we’ve got the NBA news covered. We also see nods to the WNBA, NFL, and Olympics in the ad.

My fear is that this new commercial is going to turn into that AT&T commercial with Carmelo Anthony by the end of the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

You know the one I am talking about where they show Melo and Big Perk wearing the baggy draft day suits. It was funny the first 300 times but now it makes me want to switch to Verizon.

Clark is getting dragged lately for her up-and-down start in the WNBA. Caitlin Clark’s stats are pretty solid averaging 17.3 points, 6.3 assists, and 5.4 rebounds in her first 8 appearances. Where Clark is struggling is from long range as the star is shooting just 31.3 from behind the three-point line.

The problem with these commercials is live sports hammers us with the same three ads for six months straight. We could do worse than seeing vintage MJ though.
