Welcome to BetUS’ pleasers betting page. Below we’ll be covering the ins-and-outs of pleaser’s bets so you can feel comfortable placing this type of action.

What is a Pleaser Bet?

A pleaser is a wager involving two or more outcomes in a single wager wherein you adjust the point spread in the house’s favor in return for increased odds, meaning increased payouts.

BetUS has point spread-only pleasers for NFL and NCAA football and NBA and NCAA basketball. Totals are not allowed in pleasers.

For football, pleasers may contain two to eight-point spread picks.

For basketball, only two-team point spread pleasers are allowed.

How Does Pleaser Betting Work?

A pleaser works by changing (pleasing) the point spread against your favor. Thus, at least from the book’s perspective, decreasing your chances to win. The upside is that you get much higher payouts for getting your picks correct than you would by wagering a regular parlay or a teaser.

If you please the favorite, you are increasing the number of points that your selection has to win by.

If you please the underdog, you are decreasing the points your selection can lose the game by in order for your selection to win.

Any loss in a pleaser will cause the entire wager to be graded as a loss. There are no partial payouts.

A push, tie, or cancelation in a pleaser of three teams or more will reduce the number of plays in the pleaser. For example, a 5-team pleaser that has two pushes will become a 3-team pleaser and the payout will be recalculated accordingly.

A push, tie, or cancelation in any 2-team regular pleaser will result in a push for the whole pleaser unless the other game is graded a loss. If any portion of a 2-team pleaser is graded No Action, the entire pleaser will be graded No Action, unless the other team is graded a loss.

Why Use a Pleaser?

Besides the obvious bragging rights, you’ll get by beating the book at its own game. The payouts with pleasers are huge as compared to parlays or Pleasers.

For example, say there are two NFL games where you feel there will be upsets, or at least much closer games than the lines suggest:

49ers -10 at Rams +10

Cowboys -7 at Giants +7

If you have a good feeling that the Giants will beat Dallas, and that the Rams will keep it close or beat the visiting 49ers, you have some betting options.

If you placed straight wagers on both, you would get a return of $100 on every $110 wagered. Thus, you would have to risk $220 to win $200.

If you parlayed the two games, a $100 winning bet would pay out $260.

Now, say you placed a 6.5-point pleaser wager with a $100 risk amount on the Rams and the Giants.

The lines on those two teams now become:

Rams +3.5 and Giants +0.5

You only need New York to beat or tie Dallas, while the 49ers could win by three points or fewer, or even get beaten by St. Louis, and this payout would be a massive $700.

How to Place a Pleaser?

Go to the sportsbook page at BetUS. If you only want to see the lines for one sport, such as football, click the football link in the menu on the right. This will show you what options are available for wagering on football. The options will show up in a dropdown menu underneath the main football tab.

If you want to bet on NFL, click on it and the available games will show up in the middle of the page in what is called the betting engine. Choose which NFL events you would like to bet on by clicking on the odds displayed in the betting engine. Afterwards, you will see it in the right-hand column under Bet Slip.

To choose another sport to add to your ticket, go back to the Sports column on the left and click another sport. Choose again from the available events and add them to your Bet Slip. Only full game lines are allowed for exotic wagers, which include Pleasers.

All your chosen events will be listed in the Bet Slip with your wager options above.

As you are choosing your events, you will see wager options for placing a Parlay, If Bet, Reverse, and Teaser in the Bet Slip. Straight will be the default wager type until you choose something else. Whatever wager type the Bet Slip is set to will be grey, as below.

Odds

Pleaser odds are listed with Teaser odds. Click the teaser button and you will see all your selections listed in the Bet Slip. Clicking on the drop-down arrow will show you your available Pleaser options at the very bottom of the dropdown menu

Teaser Odds

You can add more selections or an event from another sport in the menu. Simply bring up the lines for that sport in the betting engine again and select another event. The Bet Slip will add that event and keep itself in Teaser mode (which is where Pleaser odds also are, at the very bottom).  If you have already entered a Risk amount, Payout amount will automatically readjust with the new event’s odds.

Placing your Pleaser Bet

To place your bet into the system, click the Place my bets button under the Bet Slip:

To confirm your wager, simply click Confirm. After you do this, you will be unable to change your wager and BetUS will be unable to cancel it.

Important Note

Once your wager is confirmed, the Bet Slip will again show you all your wager details. It will then ask you to print a hard copy of your Slip. In case of emergency or other circumstance, no internet claims will be honored unless a printed copy of bets in question is supplied.
