Player Stats Betting Odds and Lines

What are the NHL Player Stats About?

NHL Player Stats is a futures bet where bettors can place wagers on how they believe NHL players will perform in the regular season. They are another way to make money betting on the NHL outside of the typical wagers.

How Do NHL Player Stats Work?

There are many ways to bet on the NHL, but a futures bet is the only way to bet on NHL Player Stats.

A futures bet is a wager that predicts the outcome of an event or how players or teams will perform in the future.

Futures bets can have positive or negative odds. However, most of the NHL Team stats are represented by negative odds, with the higher the negative number indicating the greater the favorite. If one outcome is much more unlikely, it may be represented by positive odds.

Betting Strategy

When betting on NHL Player Stats, there are a few strategies to use to help boost one’s chances of winning.

Despite it being a futures bet, one strategy is to look at players’ recent performances to see how many points, goals, or wins they have gotten in a season or that they average. If a player is trending up or down, that could be a good indicator of how a player may perform in the upcoming season.

Another helpful strategy is to look at the roster surrounding the player one is betting on. If a player is the star or main scorer of the team, they may be relied upon to score more points in a season than if a team has multiple top scorers.

Finally, looking at the schedule a player’s team will face and the division they are in could be helpful as well. If a player is likely to face a gauntlet of a schedule or their team will have trouble winning, they may find it tougher to record points.

Prop Bets

Although there are prop bets for bettors to wager on in the NHL, since NHL Player Stats are a future bet, they don’t have any prop bets.

However, bettors can place prop bets on how a player will perform in regular-season games.

How to bet on Player Stats Betting Odds and Lines

Though the moneyline, puck line, and total are the three most common betting options for betting on the NHL, the only option for betting on NHL Player Stats is a futures bet.

A futures bet is a prediction on how bettors believe a team or player will perform in the long term or what the outcome of a season or event will be. In the case of the NHL Player Stats, it involves betting on the statistics a certain player will record in the regular season.

Futures bets can be represented by positive or negative odds, but most NHL Player Stats involve all negative odds, with the higher the negative number indicating the greater the favorite. However, if one outcome is a lot less likely to happen, those underdog odds may be represented by a positive number.

For example, one could bet on how many points Trevor Zegras will record in the 2023-24 season, with the over/under set at 67.5 points. He is favored to score more than that with the over set at -120, but not by much, as the under is set at -110. A bettor would have to place a $120 bet to win $100 on the over-cashing out, while they would have to bet $110 to win $100 on the under.
