2026 Women’s College Basketball Odds: March Madness & National Championship Futures

With conference tournaments ongoing and futures boards tightening daily, the 2026 Women’s National Championship market is entering its most volatile stretch. Conference championship tournaments will open or close the door on teams for chances to play in the NCAA tournament.

And there will be a clear picture of which schools are the dominant ones and need to be addressed in the women’s college basketball national championship odds.

UConn has run the table through the regular season as coach Geno Auriemma has built another proud roster at a school that is the dynasty of dynasties among NCAA women’s basketball champions. Will the Huskies be able to complete another perfect season? How do they figure in the betting market, which leans more heavily toward top seeds on the women’s side than the men’s?

Women’s March Madness futures have the Huskies at -300 to win the national championship. There are other options that have created distance between the best and the rest when it comes to NCAAW futures betting. Those schools would be UCLA, South Carolina, Texas, and Vanderbilt. It is worth noting that UConn has not played any of those four teams. The Longhorns and Commodores met in SEC play, and Vandy came away with a convincing victory.

The Case Against UConn

The Huskies are undefeated and the favorites in the women’s college basketball national championship odds. That does not mean they are infallible. When looking at their schedule, while impressive to be perfect, they have played one team that was in the Top 10 at the time of the game. That turned into a three-point win over Michigan.

Overall, per the AP poll, UConn is 5-0 against ranked teams. When it comes to women’s March Madness odds, they are a deserving favorite. However, will the lack of strength on the schedule play against UConn should it advance to rounds like the Sweet 16, Elite Eight, or Final Four?

The Huskies have a balanced attack and average 88.5 points per game. What happens when the opposition toughens? On defense, UConn allows only 50.7 ppg. It is scoring almost 38 points per game more than its opponents. Are the Huskies that good, or was the opposition that poor? When thinking about wagering on women’s NCAA tournament betting odds these are factors that must be researched and thoroughly examined.

What About the SEC Schools?

The third through seventh-ranked schools all come from the SEC. These schools tested each other in the regular season and through the conference tournament. Will they strengthen because of the opposition or delete each other. In any way, they must be factored into the NCAA women’s basketball championship odds 2026.

Women’s basketball national championship odds have South Carolina at +900, Texas at +700, Vanderbilt at +5000, LSU at +1600, and Oklahoma at +12500. Those SEC schools hold the power in the conference. The Lady Gamecocks, led by coach Dawn Staley, are tournament-tested and have only lost to Texas and Oklahoma. They did not get a rematch with either of those teams in the regular season.

Texas has only lost in regular-season play to conference teams, and the defeats were all on the road. The Longhorns rolled through the SEC tournament, destroying South Carolina by 17 in the final. If one looks for a major flaw in Vanderbilt, it would be the fact that it lost to Georgia, which is unranked, but that defeat was by two points. LSU and coach Kim Mulkey have only lost to conference teams in the regular season. Oklahoma has seven defeats overall in the regular season and was walloped in the SEC postseason tournament by LSU. When looking at the Top 10 schools from the SEC, the Sooners are by far the most vulnerable.

Trouble Bruin from Big Ten

The Big Ten has three teams hovering around the bottom of the Top 10. That would be Iowa (+10000), Michigan (+8500) and Ohio State (+20000). Those teams all have impressive win totals but … they have four, five and seven losses to ranked teams. The school to fear coming out of the conference is second-ranked UCLA. The Bruins are 31-1 as of this writing and were 12-1 against ranked schools. The lone loss was to Texas by 11 points early in the season. Given what Texas did to South Carolina in the SEC tournament final, that loss is totally forgivable. UCLA is a likely second choice to UConn in women’s Final Four odds and a formidable one at that.

The Overall Picture

Womens college basketball odds are different from the men’s side. There is much greater dominance among fewer schools. As many attempts as there have been made to try to create a greater balance, it has not been achieved. When looking at Final Four futures or national championship odds, one has to consider how tilted the marketplace is to the top teams. It would be no surprise if four of the top five teams in the country make it to the Final Four.

When looking for possible upsets, make sure to consider conferences teams come out of and how they played against ranked schools. Another example of how lopsided the games can be is a recent Iowa-UCLA game for the Big Ten championship. Both teams were ranked in the Top 10 yet UCLA won by 51 points. The Bruins have scored 900 more points than their opponents after 32 games.

The ACC is another example. Duke beat Louisville for the conference tournament championship. Both teams have impressive records. However, when looking at their marks against Top 25 teams both are below .500. There will likely be lopsided moneylines and huge spreads in early rounds of the womens NCAA basketball tournament. It takes a great deal of studying and examining stats and records to see what team or teams could be worth a play.

NCAAW Futures Betting FAQs

UConn currently leads the championship futures board as the betting favorite.

The highest value window is typically before conference tournaments and before Selection Sunday, when odds can shift significantly based on seeding, injuries, or late-season wins.

Historically, the women’s tournament is more top-heavy, with No. 1 seeds consistently reaching the Final Four. This often results in shorter odds on favorites compared to the men’s market.

Bettors can hedge during the Elite Eight or Final Four by wagering on an opponent or using available cash-out features to lock in profit.

Strong guard play, top-15 offensive efficiency, tournament-tested coaching, and favorable projected seeding are key indicators of potential value.
