MLS Outright Odds: Soccer Betting Lines

A long time ago, when dragons ruled the land, winning the Major League Soccer title was like stealing candy from a baby. Time has passed, and things have changed. Now, the MLS is one of the top markets for veteran superstars, and conquering the MLS Cup is harder than watching Bronny James actually make a bucket.

Fear not. Here at BetUS Sportsbook, you can find the best MLS outrights, in-depth previews, and the best tools to bet responsibly, from deposit limits to our educational resources.

MLS Futures Betting

Since 1996, there have been only three back-to-back MLS champions. The last one was the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2012. Los Angeles FC made it to the previous two championship games but only won one. That’s just to reinforce the idea that winning the MLS isn’t easy!

Now, MLS futures betting, that’s why you’re here. Every season, you can bet on the MLS Cup winner, top scorer, Eastern Conference winner, Western Conference winner, and more. The first thing to know about outright bets is that you can place one even before the start of the season. Second, outright prices constantly change during the season, but once you place a bet, the price is locked in.

Currently, the MLS roster includes 29 teams, meaning the road to the promised land isn’t short. Also, finishing as the MLS top scorer or winning the Most Valuable Player award is now exclusively for the elite because superstars like Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Christian Benteke, Cucho Hernandez, and Dennis Boungan raised the bar.

MLS Futures Odds

Let’s start with the big one: the team to win the MLS Cup. Before or during the season and postseason, you can bet on which team will conquer the title. For the 2024 season, Inter Miami has been atop the board since day one, but not even Messi and company have been capable of finishing an MLS season unbeaten.

Let’s say you included Inter Miami in your MLS picks with a $100 bet for the Herons to win the MLS Cup at +250. If Messi and company win the title, you win the bet, which means you will win $250. If they reach the final but lose, you lose the bet.

You can also bet which team will win the Eastern and Western Conference. Remember that the East includes 15 teams, while the West contains 14. The last time to win the East back-to-back was the Houston Dynamo in 2012, while LAFC won the West the previous two seasons.

In this case, you don’t need your pick to win the MLS Cup or its first-round series in the playoffs. You only need your pick to finish the regular season atop the conference standings.

That leads me to talk about the Supporters’ Shield Cup, granted to the best team during the regular season. The conference doesn’t matter here, and winning the Supporters’ Shield can open many doors besides having a home advantage during the postseason.

Finally, you can bet on which player will win the Golden Boot, the award granted to the league’s top scorer. Something extremely important to know about the Golden Boot is that the race only includes the regular season.

The last three winners scored 20+ goals, and there has never been a back-to-back winner. That means Christian Benteke won’t be among the MLS best bets for the 2025 season.

How to Bet on MLS Odds

During the regular season, every team plays 34 games. Constantly checking the MLS news is crucial for you to succeed. Besides team form, injuries, suspensions, schedule, international competitions, to name a few, can affect performances.

Don’t always bet on the favorite. For example, expectations around Austin FC, FC Dallas, and the Philadelphia Union for the 2024 season were high. Well, none of the three qualified for the playoffs. Identifying some good underdogs can make you win big time!

Mix your plays. A straight-up winner is the easiest way to make money, but over/under, spread, and props always offer crazy good prices!

On that same page, a very bad team can still have a good player. Don’t always go by the standings. Check the stats every once in a while and make a deeper analysis. That can lead you to some gold!

Best Teams in the MLS

Headquarters wanted me to start with Messi and Inter Miami, but I’m sorry. I feel the urge to talk about the Columbus Crew first. Why? The Crew won the title in two of the last five seasons. Overall, Columbus has won the title three times. Only the Los Angeles Galaxy and DC United have won more, with five and four, respectively.

You should always consider the Galaxy in terms of soccer futures. Los Angeles is a very attractive market for powerful superstars, and no other team has reached the Grand Finale more times than the Galaxy with nine.

We also need to talk about Los Angeles FC, a team led by Denis Bounga, who scored 25+ goals in the last two seasons. The Boys in Gold have embraced a strong winning mentality and can instantly beat any obstacle.

Now, it’s time to talk about Inter Miami. Since Messi took over on the field, the Herons hit the number one spot in the MLS betting trends, especially after conquering the Leagues Cup and the Supporters’ Shield. I do not doubt that Miami will keep investing and growing. David Beckham won’t rest until the team becomes the best in the region.

Last but not least, it’s only fair to talk about the Seattle Sounders, a team that, regardless of the MLS odds, qualified for the MLS soccer playoffs in 15 of 16 seasons in the league. The Blue and Greens have won the Western Conference four times and two MLS Cups. If that’s not enough for you, remember that Seattle is the only MLS team winning the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Best players in MLS

I’ll start with Messi, considered by many to be the greatest of all time. Like Beckham, Messi has won it all and won’t rest until Inter Miami conquers all possible titles, including the MLS Cup, CONCACAF Champions Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.

Besides Messi, Inter Miami’s roster includes Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba, who also won it all while playing for Barcelona alongside Messi. No wonder the Herons have controlled the soccer betting lines all season long!

Leaving the Herons behind, we’ve Bouanga (LAFC) and Hernandez (Columbus), who are always among the favorites in the MLS outright odds to win the Golden Boot. Bounga even finished on the podium for MVP in the 2023 season.

Finally, always watch Luciano Acosta, the 2023 season MVP. In 2024, no other had more assists than him, with 19. As if that weren’t enough, he also scored 14 goals. FC Cincinnati is lucky to have him!
